In the bustling gallery district of Chelsea NY, the house is entered on the third floor through a garden courtyard. Set within a three-story industrial brick building, the courtyard’s private inner landscape brings relief from the density of Manhattan.
The house wraps around the courtyard
The house wraps around to form the space of the courtyard. Living areas open directly to the garden. Bedrooms on the upper level extend out to terraces. A spiral staircase leads to a roof top deck.
A long gallery links the two halves of the house. The upper gallery ramps down to the master bedroom. An exterior ramp provides access between terraces. A skylight above the stairs casts a soft light onto the back wall of the house.
Three stainless steel tables form a restaurant-style kitchen. Large sliding wood doors provide the flexibility to screen the kitchen.
