Contemporary Beach House, Truro, MA
Overlooking Cape Cod Bay, this new contemporary house is designed to maximize views of the sky and water.
An open plan at ground level flows fluidly from the entry to the kitchen to the dining and living area. Concrete countertops, corner breakfast nook, open fireplace provide functional focal points.
Flat roofs and wood siding creates a playful composition of stacked volumes on the exterior. Exposed steel beams support wood ceilings at the interior. Perforated metal partitions float below the ceilings inside and out. Stained concrete and bamboo floors provide durable surfaces for sand-covered feet.
A covered patio and a south facing deck extends living spaces to the outside. The upstairs sitting room opens to a roof deck with views toward the lighthouses in Provincetown.
Illuminated risers at the staircase provides a whimsical design element to the house in the evenings.
Filled with natural light, this house has tall ceilings, large windows, eclectic materials, and open floor plan that integrate outside and inside in a fluid composition.
