From Vision to Reality – Architect’s Design Process
In the Design Development phase, the exterior and interior aspects of the selected design is developed. Windows, doors, building systems and products are defined, and material palettes proposed. Electrical and lighting plans are prepared.
Then in the Construction Documents phase, details for the exteriors and interiors are designed and drafted. Consultants are coordinated. Site plans, floor plans, roof plans, building elevations and building sections are finalized. The permit documents are prepared for agency review.
The Construction Documents becomes the basis for the Construction Contract.
For a Basic Project, the following drawings are standard:
- Plans – site, proposed, roof, electrical
- Exterior Elevations
- Building Sections
For a Custom Project, additional details are coordinated:
- Interior Elevations
- Enlarged Kitchen and Bath Plans and Elevations
- Fireplace Details
- Stair Details
- Millwork Details
- Coordination of finishes & products
- Custom exterior & interior details
